Wednesday, March 14th

A very busy day today! We left the room around 9AM, came back at dinner time and then out the door again 15 minutes later. Lots of highlights today...

Liberty Island was amazing. We could not have asked for better weather. The views we had we truly spectacular. Seeing the statue was awesome. I was expecting it to be bigger but that is probably because I've seen too many movies. LOL. We couldn't go in to it because it is under repair right now.

I think I probably enjoyed Ellis Island a bit more. Going though the museum and reading about what families did and sacrificed for a better life in America really made me think and appreciate what we have today. For some family members they were literally separated for years before they were able to be together again. 12 Million people went through Ellis Island. It was closed in 1954 and sat abandoned for 30 years before restored and brought back to the monument it is today.

Spent some time walking around the Financial District but plan to go back to explore some more. Took a quick look through the Century 21 Store, supposed to be bargains but I didn't see anything.

Quick hop on the subway and off a couple of stops later at Franklin Street. Walked up to the Hooks and Ladder #8 Firehall. Ghostbusters was filmed here so this was a "must" stop on our trip. I had to knock on the door as no way I was coming all this way and not looking inside, even though they just used the outside of the building for filming. We were able to go in and take some pictures and see the ghostbusters sign that was given to the hall after filming.

We were able to get tickets to Spiderman, Turn off the Dark. It was a great show with lots of great effects and we understand why there were so many injuries when building this show. They fly around on cables above the audience. Very cool!

Some more time hanging out in Times Square after the show then subway back to the hotel. The boys were lit up in the square, American Eagle will take your picture and then put it on their billboardfor your 15 seconds of fame...very cool. Very tired after a great day.
